Example 2

This person lost her sideburns as a result of "traction alopecia" or balding resulting from a hair style that puts a chronic pull on the hair follicle. Such a pull of short duration is temporary but over a poorly defined longer term the hair loss is permanent. Photos show the before, immediatedly after, one week at donor suture removal, six weeks Final Result of Procedure and end stage at eight months. The pattern shows a forward row of micrografts with the majority of grafts being minigrafts. She received 550 grafts to do both sides of her head. As a general rule, Dr. Reed feels the multi-hair minigraft better mimicks the growth pattern of curly Afro-American hair. The curved nature of the hair below the surface in the donor area also means the larger graft will undergo less injury in the dissection process than would an all follicular unit graft transplant in his opinion.
